Baylor’s Story

Two years ago, Baylor Bartliff went to see her Le Bonheur pediatrician for a routine wellness visit. Her doctor noticed something was wrong with her back.

Diagnosed with scoliosis, Baylor was referred to a Le Bonheur orthopedic surgeon. Fitted with a back brace, her scoliosis was monitored yet continued to progress. Baylor was unable to participate in her travel cheerleading meets as a flyer due to pain — her back issue was also beginning to wear on her self-confidence. When her spinal curvature reached 60 degrees, Baylor’s medical team determined she needed spinal fusion surgery.

Following a successful surgery, 15-year-old Baylor spent six days recovering at Le Bonheur.
“We had a wonderful experience from the surgery to the recovery at Le Bonheur,” Josh said. “The nursing staff was wonderful and being at a hospital designed specifically for children made Baylor feel very comfortable.”

Today, Baylor is gradually returning to normal activities and hopes to be cheering again soon. She was excited to grow two inches post surgery! “My employer, Salesforce, donates annually to FedExFamilyHouse,” Josh said. “After a few days of being at Le Bonheur, I understood personally how important it is to support Le Bonheur as a whole. We are so grateful for the wonderful care our daughter received.”
