Lyric gets a new heart

Three days ago, 2-year-old Lyric’s future looked pretty bleak. Her heart was so big it couldn’t pump blood on its own. Hooked up to machines in Le Bonheur’s Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Lyric was facing end-stage heart failure. She was struggling to breathe. Her days were numbered.

But late Saturday night, everything changed. Lyric received a new heart.

Lyric’s surgery was only possible because of investments in Le Bonheur by people like you. We’ve built one of the nation’s best pediatric heart programs. We’ve recruited skilled cardiologists and heart surgeons who have many years of experience with heart failure and transplants.

You’ve helped us develop a continuum of care for those with congenital heart defects – from prenatal through adulthood. A successful heart transplant surgery is a sign that we have arrived at our goal – a comprehensive heart institute.
