Miracle Makers: A Miracle Son and Miracle Grandchild

Miracle Makers is a series of 30 stories from Walmart and Sam’s Club associates to celebrate the companies’ 30th anniversary of fundraising for CMN Hospitals

Walmart Department Manager, Michelle Bellew, an associate of 26 years, knows a thing or two about the value of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

When her son was five years old, he was hit by a car while riding his bike and had to be flown to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. More recently, her grandchild was born premature at 26 weeks. Weighing just one pound and four ounces, she spent the following four months in the NICU at Le Bonheur.

Michelle is happy to say both her son and her grandchild are well and thriving thanks to the  resources provided by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Before I ever had to use Le Bonheur,” Michelle says, “I said to myself, ‘I hope I don’t ever have to use it, but if I do, I am glad it’s there!’”

Seeing her loved ones taken care of is the very reason she enjoys helping at CMN Hospitals fundraisers. Be it Crazy Hat Day, cookouts, silent auctions, a dunk tank, or a fancy charity ball, Michelle loves getting other associates and the community in on the fun. “Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals serves our community. It’s a very important thing,” she says.

CMN Hospitals strives to serve the children in your community, one dollar at a time. Please donate the next time you visit your local Walmart or Sam’s Club.
